Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
First Mickey Mouse balloon to appear in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (Originally the Macy's Christmas Parade), Thursday, November 29, 1934. Location: Broadway and 105th Street, New York City, NY.
There were floats, professional bands and live animals borrowed from the Central Park Zoo. At the end of that first parade, as has been the case with every parade since, Santa Claus was welcomed into Herald Square. At this first parade, however, the Jolly Old Elf was enthroned on the Macy's balcony at the 34th Street store entrance, where he was then "crowned" "King of the Kiddies." With an audience of over a quarter of a million people, the parade was such a success that Macy's declared it would become an annual event.
Today we need to thank and remember the boys and girls across the ocean defending our freedom. Most of us will not even think about them after the first beer. While you slice into the Turkey please take a quick second to thank them for doing a great job and being awesome troopers. I dedicate this video in their names. Trust me, no other country has it as good as we do. Now it's time for me to spark up and get ripped! Enjoy todays festivities and never forget that we live in the the land of the free and the home of the brave.
