Goodbye Godzilla

Yankee hero, Hideki Matsui has agreed to a one year deal with the LA Angels, ending his 7 year Yankee career. In his final year with the Yankees, the 35-year-old battled through knee issues to hit .274 with 28 homers and 90 RBIs.

A national hero in his native Japan, Matsui saved his best for last. In his final game in pinstripes, Matsui turned in one of the greatest performances in World Series history, tying a record with six RBIs to lift the Yankees past the Phillies in the clinching Game 6. The epitome of class and grace, Matsui hit 140 homers in seven seasons in the Bronx, providing a powerful left-handed bat that when healthy solidified the middle of the Yankees' lineup. Godzilla, good luck and Godspeed, you will be missed. Here is his awesome game 6 at bat against Pedro Martinez.
